Half Dome cables. One can see two other climbers on the cables. The route is steep but not close to vertical, peaking around 50% grade. Slab writ large. But the exposure is scary. Note that no permit was necessary to climb in 1975, and we had the route mostly to ourselves on a peak weekend in summer.

Bill starts up the cables. Here Dad asked me to walk up to the first rung then turn around for a photo. Notice that I'm wearing gloves and not taking my hands off the cables!

Bill on the Half Dome cables. Dad experimented with "burning in" my image as I was otherwise a little dark in the full-size photo.
