It took about a half-hour of struggling with it, but after a while I got it to wiggle a little bit, and that gave me the idea to keep working it until the soft aluminum of the cam teeth could be "filed" down by the hard rock, enough to release the cam. Better than abandoning a $70 piece of hardware!
