Cottontail rabbit. Seen in Arastradero Preserve.
A hawk had just caught this rabbit, then released it, so it didn't run from me until I got within 6 feet of it. The hawk had perched on a tree a few hundred yards away and was surely going to come retrieve his meal when we left, so I tried to coax the rabbit to at least run into bushes to escape the eyes of the hawk, but it ran instead toward the road. In the end I had to let nature take its course.
