Hairless animal corpse found in the debris. We were trying to figure out what animal this was. With the exception of a small patch of hair on the lower right leg, the creature was completely hairless. The head looked like that of a squirrel but for the floppy ears. The teeth suggested some sort of rodent, but there's only a stub of a tail. Perhaps a jackrabbit or an underfed cottontail?

A shy but curious coyote in Shingle Mill Gulch (1040ft) This guy crossed the road in front of me. He leapt up the right-hand hillside. I stopped. He stopped to turn and look at me. I only got one chance to snap the picture as the flash startled him, and he immediately ran off. Looks like an older coyote from the gray on its muzzle.
